This Week in WoW: Happy 2025!

Introduction

Welcome everyone to another week in World of Warcraft (Retail Edition)!  As always, for more in depth information, there are numerous places to find information about the week’s events.  I will only ever cover those events that may be relevant for solo, or solo-ish (those comfortable with using group finder), players.  I do not include information about raiding, Mythic+, or any other high-level group content.  Other sources of information on this material include: WoWhead, Blizzard Watch, Blizzard’s World of Warcraft website, Icy Veins, etc.  Now that we’ve taken care of that disclaimer, hopefully some of you are still here so let’s move on.

**Please note that quests and events mentioned below are often located in the Adventure Guide as well.  If you have trouble grinding a quest giver, I suggest checking your Guide.

World Boss

The World Boss this week is Aggregation of Horrors, in the Ringing Deeps.  It is perhaps my least favorite World Boss for reasons discussed in previous posts.  There’s a bit of an escort event before the actual boss, but if you’re lucky you can join a group that has done most, if not all, of the escort portion.

Weekly Quests

The Classic Timewalking Quest is back.  You can pick it up either in Dornogal or through the Adventure Guide.

The Dungeon Reputation Quest is The Dawnbreaker this week which is a bit on the complicated side, since it has a flying component.  I’ve heard that steady flight makes it slightly simpler, but I’ve only completed this dungeon once, with followers, so I have no other real advice.  Good luck!

There is a Delve Quest (“Trouble Up and Down Khaz Algar”) this week which asks you to complete one delve in the Isle of Dorn and one delve in Azj-Kahet.  It’s relatively straight forward and should be doable on lower level delves for those who just want to get it over with quickly.

Faerin is offering the Call of the Worldsoul this week.  Your choices are to complete World Quests, complete a Theater Troupe event, complete Heroic: The Stonevault, or to kill the World Boss and some rares.  There’s an overlap on the world quests with the bonus week, but the Theater Troupe is also fairly easy to complete.  The other two options aren’t the worst either, in my opinion, so it seems to be a pretty good week.

Also, remember that you should still be able to collect Titan Disc Fragments if you haven’t finished that quest already.  There doesn’t appear to be any new lore drops but it’s still a good thing to stay on top of.

World Events

As always, players can complete one World Event in each zone: Theater Troupe (Isle of Dorn), Awakening the Machine (Ringing Deeps), Spreading the Light (Hallowfall), and Forging a Pact (Azj-Kahet).

Players can also complete Bountiful Delves, Special Assignment World Quests, and World Soul Memories (Radiant Echoes).  These rotate around the zones so make sure to check your map for current locations.

Also remember that the Hallowfall Fishing Derby takes place on Saturdays.

Holidays, Bonus Weeks, and Other Events

This is still a pretty busy section this week.  The Anniversary Event will end on January 7th, though I’ve seen January 6th floating around as an end date as well.  It might be an EU vs. NA difference.

Winter Veil is going on until January 5th, which doesn’t leave too much time left to complete any activities, achievements, etc.  I would suggest checking the Traveler’s Log as well to see if Winter Veil, and Anniversary, activities will count towards your Traders Tender for January.

Classic Timewalking is still up, though I believe it will end with the Anniversary Event.  Remember that this doesn’t just open up some Classic dungeons and a raid, it also provides a rep gain bonus from quests and combat.

It is the World Quest Bonus Week which increases rep gains from World Quests.  The Quest “The World Awaits” asks players to complete 10 World Quests in Khaz Algar.  This overlaps nicely with one of the Call of the Worldsoul options, as well as with the Anniversary rep buffs.

**Many of these quests and events still reward Bronze Celebration Tokens, for those who still need or want to buy things from the Anniversary Event.  Remember that it’s ending soon!

PvP

With the continuation of the Anniversary Event, Korrak’s Revenge is still open and should be right up until the end of the event.

The PvP Brawl of the week is Classic Ashran, which I have been led to believe is a long and somewhat tedious brawl.

Sparks of War this week is in the Isle of Dorn.

Misc.

As always, remember to complete your weekly Profession quests and gather your Odd Globs of Wax.

Also, this is the first week of January which means there are new Trader’s Post items and new activities to complete for extra tenders.
