I’m back!  I’m finally feeling better, though not 100%, so here is my latest edition of “This Week in WoW”:

Introduction

Welcome everyone to another week in World of Warcraft (Retail Edition)!  As always, for more in depth information, there are numerous places to find information about the week’s events.  I will only ever cover those events that may be relevant for solo, or solo-ish (those comfortable with using group finder), players.  I do not include information about raiding, Mythic+, or any other high-level group content.  Other sources of information on this material include: WoWhead, Blizzard Watch, Blizzard’s World of Warcraft website, Icy Veins, etc.  Now that we’ve taken care of that disclaimer, hopefully some of you are still here so let’s move on.

**Please note that quests and events mentioned below are often located in the Adventure Guide as well.  If you have trouble grinding a quest giver, I suggest checking your Guide.

World Boss

The World Boss this week is Kordac (“Activation Protocol”) in the Isle of Dorn.  This one is fairly straight forward and can be done with the Group Finder or if you are patient (or lucky) and wait to tag it while a group is attacking it.

Weekly Quests

This week’s Dungeon Rep Quest is The Rookery.  This is, in my opinion, one of the less tricky and time consuming ones and is fairly easy to complete as a Follower Dungeon.

Corresponding to the Bonus Week (more on that below) there is also “A Call to Delves” Quest which asks players to complete 5 delves in Khaz Algar for a Cache of Delver’s Spoils, which should contain a piece of Champion track gear.

Faerin is offering the Call of the World Soul, which asks players to choose one of the following options: World Quests, Snuffling, Heroic: City of Threads, and the Awakening the Machine event.

In connection with the Turbulent Timeways event there is also the quest “A Fel Path Through Time,” which rewards a Cache of Nerubian Treasure (Heroic track gear piece) for the completion of 5 Legion Timewalking Dungeons.

Remember to complete your weekly Professions Quests, as well as collecting for the Odd Globs of Wax quest.

World Events

Players can, as usual, complete the four World Events in Khaz Algar: Theater Troupe (Isle of Dorn), Awakening the Machine (Ringing Deeps), Spreading Light (Hallowfall), and Forging a Pact (Azj-Kahet).

Players can also complete the Special Quests, Bountiful Delves, and World Soul Memories.  Remember that these rotate zones throughout the week, so make sure you check your maps.

Also, as always, the Hallowfall Fishing Derby is on Saturday.

Holidays, Bonus Weeks, and Other Events

Turbulent Timeways is ongoing, with Legion Timewalking this week.  In addition to the quest to complete 5 Timewalking Dungeons, there is also the Sign of the Legion buff.  Players will receive a 50% increase to Legion reputation gains from combat and quests in Legion zones.

The Bonus Week brings the Sign of the Explorer buff, which increases Undercoin, Delve’s Journey progress, and Brann’s XP gains by 25%.

There is a micro-holiday this week.  Call of the Scarab, an event which honors the opening of the Ahn-Qiraj Gate in Silithus.  Players can earn points for their faction by completing certain activities in the zone.  The event lasts from January 21st through January 23rd.  Whichever faction wins the most points will have their flag displayed over the Gate for the next year.

PvP

The PvP Brawl for the week is Arathi Blizzard.  This is basically just a winter storm in Arathi Basin, which affects players’ visibility.

Sparks of War is in the Isle of Dorn this week.

Also, Plunderstorm is back!  Whether you love it or hate it, or are somewhere in between, it’s definitely something a bit different.  I’ve yet to play it, but I’ve heard there are a few changes from the last time this event was live.  The main one, as far as I can gather, is that there is no longer a Renown system.  Instead, players will earn Plunder that can be used to buy rewards from the Plunderstorm shop.  This includes both new rewards and rewards from the last event, if you need or want to catch up.

Misc.

Remember that the January Trader’s Post is still available, if you haven’t earned all of your tender for the month or still have rewards you want to purchase for the month.
